Benton County Swimming Holes

2005 Water Quality Report by Emily Anderson

Luckiamute River, Kings Valley

The Benton County Stream Water Quality project includes the watersheds of the Marys River, LongTom River, Willamette River, Luckiamute River, and Alsea River.

This project is a continuation of Sharon Sternadel’s senior project two years ago. As a senior at Philomath High School I was required to complete a senior project which hopefully was related to my career of choice. The project consists of a research paper, a hands on project, an internship, and a final presentation which you have to pass to graduate.

This site is a compilation of all the work I did during the summer and this school year. Sharon Sternadel, who is attending Oregon State University was my mentor for the internship and helped me with many aspects of this project. The project was to monitor the water quality of nine different swimming holes around Benton County throughout the summer. The website is to allow the public to access information about the quality of the stream or river before they go swimming in it. It is also to help educate the public about the different aspects of water quality.
