The May, 2018 SWOCC Forest Recreation field trip was hosted by Mike Mader, Tenmile Lakes Basin Partnership, and Cathy Reiss, Ringo's Lakeside Marina, with David Gould and Jerry Phillips providing historical perspective. The principal focus of the trip was to consider the potential for local recreational businesses to coordinate with Elliott Forest recreational opportunities. Brief stops were made at Ringo's Marina, Tenmile Lake County Park, the "School Land Bay" 80-acres managed by Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) for the benefit of Coos County, and a potion of the Benson Ridge "4000" Road entryway to the Elliott. Discussions included land and road history and the Columbus Day Storm effect on forest management and local economics. Two versions of the Tenmile Lakes Field Trip Handout are available: a 2018 PDF File: 15 pp. with active links and that can be directly printed; and a 2018 Word File: 15 pp. also with active links, and that can be edited and modified for future educational field trips.
