The Kalapuyan experience of Robert W. Summers: Journal entries from the 1870s describing native cultural and dietary practices in western Oregon.
Abstract
Reverend Robert W. Summers made frequent journeys among the native population of the Grand Ronde Indian Reservation in the 1870s, often recording the many facets of a people in a state of change. His observations offer insights into cultural traditions that likely date back into the time of the ancestors, and some of the artifacts he collected provide unparalleled opportunity for understanding an ancient material culture.
