June 10, 2002 - A panel of five independent judges today announced their
selections for this year’s best Oregon School Websites. Corvallis High
School, Nestucca Middle School, and Riverdale Grade School were each given
First Place certificates and a check for $1000.00 by competition sponsors.

The contest was open to all public schools in Oregon. Competition sponsors
are Oregon Websites and Watersheds Project, Inc. (ORWW) and Friends of Paul
Bunyan Foundation, Inc. (FOPB). Both organizations are Oregon-based
nonprofit corporations with a focus on natural sciences education.

Competing schools were judged on the basis of five criteria: 1) homepage
design; 2) website functionality; 3) community outreach; 4) local sciences
content; and 5) archive plan. Second Place finishers were given a
certificate and $500. Third Place finishers received a certificate and
$100. Other schools receiving votes were given certificates of Honorable
Mention for their websites.

Churchill High School (Eugene), Obsidian Middle School (Redmond), and Ewing
Young Elementary School (Newberg) were given Second Place awards. Benson
